Platform

The Équipe Eric Allard Team is pleased to unveil its election platform. It is the result of countless conversations that we had with citizens during our door-to-door visits over the past few weeks. The platform will be delivered to your door soon, but in the meantime here is an overview.

Economy and Finances

In a post-pandemic context, we need to focus on economic recovery, promote buying locally and ensure that we have quality jobs available in our city. Sustainable development and reducing GHGs must also be at the heart of our orientations. Given the new availability of lots in our industrial park, we must ensure that the sector is being used to its full potential.
· Create an economic development office so that we can:
o Better sell our city as well as improve its brand image
o Attract more quality businesses
o Develop our industrial park to its full potential
o Provide investors with a one-stop shop platform
· Control taxation rates using municipal bylaws
· Manage and regulate the city’s debt
· Obtain our fair share of provincial and federal grant money for city projects.
Citizen Services

Citizens have the right to quality services, roads that are well maintained, and municipal infrastructures that meet their needs. We need to instill a customer service culture that focuses on finding adapted solutions that will become a source of pride for citizens and city employees alike.
· Develop a program to improve drinking water production
· Create a climate of partnership between the city and its citizens: residents, merchants and manufacturers
· Ensure that we always offer the best services at the best price
· Continue repaving streets and upgrading municipal buildings and infrastructures
· Ensure that Châteauguay plays an active role within the decision-making bodies for public transportation
· Set a standard for reasonable response times for citizen requests

Living Spaces/The Environment

Our roads, parks and neighbourhoods are living spaces that we hold dear. Châteauguay is also home to a number of natural attractions including the Châteauguay River, woodland areas, Île Saint-Bernard and Lac Saint-Louis. They are assets that make our city a great place to live and we must take action to promote and protect them because they are a source of collective pride.
· Enhance safety in our streets
· Make our city greener and more appealing
o Plant more trees, replace diseased trees, prune city trees
o Establish community gardens
· Protect the Green Corridor in its entirety
· Create a linear park that reflects citizens’ aspirations (Hydro-Québec corridor)
· Improve access to all waterfronts within the city for all citizens
· Pursue Île Saint-Bernard’s vocation while promoting access among city residents
· Promote the electrification of the municipality’s fleet of vehicles
· Maintain excellent working relationships with community organizations
Culture and Leisure

Culture, sports and leisure are something to be encouraged and relished. They also represent significant economic leverage for our community.
2023 will mark 350 years since Châteauguay was founded. It will launch an annual array of long-awaited signature celebrations.
· Continue to improve the development of our parks
· Celebrate the 350th anniversary of Châteauguay’s foundation and launch an annual festival that showcases our assets and our diversity
· Improve and update cultural, sporting and leisure activities for families, youth and seniors
· Encourage citizen activities and initiatives to add vitality to our city
· Establish partnerships with schools for cultural and sporting activities
· Develop a cultural policy for citizens and city organizations
Communications
Communication is an essential component for reaching out to citizens in all kinds of situations. The proactivity of this service can be improved, especially in light of citizens’ hectic schedules and technological advances. Citizens have a right to quick access to municipal council decisions via the Internet as well as through traditional and print media.
· Install dynamic electronic signage in strategic locations
· Maximize the « Mon Dossier » application for smart phones and desktop computers
o Improve the system for tracking citizen questions, petitions and requests
o Integrate and promote a suggestions section
· Create neighbourhood committees to discuss local concerns with elected officials
· Develop a welcome guide that includes city activities for new citizens
