A Conclusive Mandate for Châteauguay Mayor Eric Allard
and the Alliance Châteauguay Team
Châteauguay, November 10, 2021 - Newly elected Mayor Eric Allard is both humbled and invigorated by the conclusive results of the November 7th municipal election in Châteauguay. In a three-way race, achieving a simple majority is never a given and yet with 52.79% of votes cast, Allard earned more support than his two opponents combined. “This is a clear mandate from the population and we are grateful for the trust that they have placed in our team,” the new magistrate confided.
Allard first offered his thanks to his team, a seasoned group dedicated entrepreneurs, professionals and Châteauguay residents of long date, all of whom felt compelled to throw their hats in the ring and offer their services to represent their fellow citizens. “There are so many people behind this win. An exceptional team of candidates, organizers, volunteers and sympathizers, who supported, advised and acted as team ambassadors,” Allard explained.
He attributes much of the victory to the door-to-door visits undertaken between August and November 6th. “We wanted to go out and meet citizens, listen to their concerns and ideas and then transpose all of that into our campaign platform, and that’s just what we did,” explained Mayor-elect Eric Allard. “We listened to people, made their priorities our priorities, and I think when citizens saw that reflected in our platform, we were able to earn their trust and their votes,” he continued. Indeed, Allard and his team of 8 aspiring councillors, 7 of whom were elected on Sunday, November 7th, with majorities ranging from 46% to a whopping 67%, made over 10,000 visits during the campaign, identifying the environment, road conditions and safety, drinking water and taxation as some of the most pressing issues for Châteauguay residents.
Allard says he will spare no effort to fulfill the commitments made during the campaign and intends to continue to consult residents, merchants, industries and community leaders throughout the implementation process. “To my thinking, a mayor’s job doesn’t just happen behind a desk at City Hall. It’s about being present in the community, having a feel for what’s going well, what needs more work. I don’t intend to be the kind of elected official you only see pushing an empty grocery cart around the aisles every four years. Our team will be there, listening to you and representing our city at events that matter to you, with your best interests in mind,” Allard assured.
On behalf of the entire Alliance Châteauguay Team, Allard acknowledged everyone who participated in the democratic exercise; particularly all of the candidates who courageously offered to represent their fellow citizens. “We can all be proud of a clean campaign, focused on ideas rather than mudslinging.” Referring to low voter turnout and the vandalism perpetrated on campaign posters, Allard said “And to those who didn’t take part, who might be indifferent to politics or feel their voices haven’t been heard, I encourage you to reach out to your new City Council. As your local government we want to partner with you, make sure your needs are met and that no one is left behind. Perhaps through our actions, we will be able to convince you to participate in 2025,” he concluded.
