Châteauguay, September 10, 2021 – For quite some time now, mayoral Candidate Eric Allard has observed that the Exo bus and taxi-bus network that provides services in Châteauguay requires thorough modernization. The pandemic created a major shift in a number of citizens’ travel habits both into Montreal and within Châteauguay’s borders. According to Eric Allard, the stars are aligning for Châteauguay to finally get the services it deserves.
“Given that the park-and-ride on Saint-Jean-Baptiste Boulevard will soon be transformed into an Exo bus terminal, it goes without saying that my interventions will all be in line with improving several local bus routes and the taxi-bus service. People who work in Montreal’s West Island also need this service, as do those who travel toward the east and to Longueuil,” stated Eric Allard, Châteauguay mayoral candidate.
Aspiring councillor Arlene Bryant has noticed that young families that have settled in the region are now using other modes of transportation to get from here to there. “There are a number of new citizens in Châteauguay, as well as an ever-growing number of teens and young adults who need to travel within our city. We need to seize the opportunity to make travel easier for them through an efficient bus network and also by facilitating the use of bicycles, car-sharing and new modes of urban transportation,” explained Arlene Bryant.
The Autorité régionale de transport métropolitain (ARTM) and Exo are mandated with planning and offering transportation services within the City of Châteauguay’s territory. “Representation for our city is now practically non-existent within these two institutions’ boards of directors. For years, other cities have been making decisions about what is best for us, in spite of our enormous financial contribution. If I am elected in November, I will make sure that we are heard,” Eric Allard continued.
